Abstract: Due to the extensive usage of Distribution Generation (DG) from different Renewable Energy Sources (RES) with power-electronic based interfaces, serious Power Quality (PQ) issues have arisen. Today's DG networks are plagued by problems including voltage deviations, flickers, and harmonic distortions in the waveforms of the bus voltage and load current. This paper comprehensively reviews PQ issues emerged due to utilization of various RES, and the recent proposed technological solutions. PQ indices are specified and the critical components of the system with different topologies are described and compared. Finally, power grids performance compliance with PQ criteria as specified by international standards is verified.
