Development and Enhancement of electric vehicle Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM)

Abstract: The drive towards sustainable and efficient transportation has significantly increased the demand for electric vehicles (EVs). A critical component of the EV powertrain is the electric motor, with the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) being a popular choice due to its high efficiency, power density, and excellent torque-speed characteristics. This paper reviews the recent advancements in the development and enhancement of PMSMs for EV applications. We focus on design optimization, control strategies, and performance improvements to meet the specific demands of electric vehicles, including higher efficiency, better thermal management, and wider operational ranges.
