Abstract: The evolution of smart grids has introduced an innovative paradigm in the management of electricity demand, emphasizing the significance of demand response (DR) programs. These programs are designed to adjust the demand for power instead of altering the supply to match consumption. This study delves into the mechanisms, benefits, challenges, and future directions of demand response programs within smart grids, employing a combination of quantitative data analysis and qualitative assessments to understand their impact on energy consumption, peak load reduction, and overall grid reliability.
